The Column of Marcus Aurelius is a Roman victory column in Piazza Colonna, Rome, Italy. It is a Doric column featuring a spiral relief: it was built in honour of Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius and modelled on Trajan’s Column. Well that is the brief history lesson.
I wanted the column to appear taller than the surrounding buildings and so I used a wide angle lens pointed up to converge the verticals and let the object closer to the lens stand out. The motion from the clouds helped to add interest to a plain dark sky.
