Gellert Hill at night - Budapest, Hungary

On the way to photograph the Liberty/Freedom/Franz Jospeh Bridge from the Pest side, I liked how the orange glow of Gellert Hill contrasted with the evening blue sky. Orange and blue are good complimentary colours to look out for at night.

I don’t know if the Hungarian people prefer the term Liberty or Freedom when referring to the statue at the top of Gellert Hill and the bridge, that I was standing on. I should have asked! My guess would be that Freedom Statue and Freedom Bridge is the preference as the term Liberty, for Hungarians, refers to the Russian invasion. Which freed Hungary from German rule in World war II but put them under communist Russian rule.

The transition from communism to democracy in the late 1980′s was their freedom.
