Wenceslas Square – Prague, Czech Republic

Technical (geek) Bit: I encountered quite a few issues taking this image. I had walked up and down Wenceslas Square during the day, sampling the sausages (yum!), and saw the roses standing up proud from the graphical swirls of the bushes underneath. I took a quick composition shot then and knew where to come back […]

National Theatre – Prague, Czech Republic

This building is very brightly lit and extremely difficult to expose in such a way to balance the light on the building and capture the traffic’s light trails. I could spend days trying to “remove” the tram power lines but I won’t. I like what it adds to the composition.

Charles Bridge at Sunset – Prague, Czech Republic

The Charles Bridge watch tower on the eastern side is a great place to watch the sun set behind Petrin. The gangway is quite small and so tripods are not allowed although there are enough lookout windows to rest your camera on.

Prague City Skyline – Prague, Czech Republic

Prague straddles the Vltava River and in its 1,100 year history its architecture benefited from the Gothic and Renaissance eras; as a capital it was also the seat of two Holy Roman Emperors and therefore a capital of the Holy Roman Empire and was a important city to the Austro-Hungarian Empire. In recent decades, post […]

Old Town Square – Prague, Czech Republic

Located between Wenceslas Square and the Charles Bridge, Prague’s Old Town Square features various architectural styles including the gothic Týn Church and baroque St. Nicholas Church. This view is looking out towards the Týn Church as the sun sets over the castle, behind me, lighting the clouds a subtle pink hue. There was enough space […]

The south side of Prague’s Old Town Square is composed of a series of beautiful buildings with colourful Renaissance and Baroque façades. I like the complimentary colours from […]

Old Town Hall Lift – Prague, Czech Republic

The Old Town Hall Tower offers a panoramic view over the Old Town Square and Prague. Luckily, to get to the top of the tower, you don’t have to climb all the steps to the top. You can take a futuristic tube like lift to the top. Reminds me of Futurama. I was lucky on […]

Touch for good luck – Prague, Czech Republic

The statue of John of Nepomuk on the Charles Bridge has two bronze plaques at its base. One of which is considered good luck if you touch it. It is said that if you rub the one depicting John being thrown from the bridge, you will one day return to Prague. John of Nepomuk is […]

Charles Bridge Tower at Sunrise – Prague, Czech Republic

The Old Town Bridge Tower was built in the 14th century in a Gothic style. There are a set of narrow steps which you can take to the top which will present a view across Prague. On this morning, I wanted a view of the sunrise behind the tower. As I had been up till […]

View across the Vltava at night – Prague, Czech Republic

This is considered one of the iconic views across the Vltava River, looking west towards the Prague Castle and St Vitus church at night. Boring, safe and not unique photography, but you should get the iconic views in your travel photography as well as looking for something new. This was my first day/night in Prague. […]
